This gnat pattern is ideal for light situations where the waters have partial reflections and can be seen from a distance in a variety of lighting situations. I find it particularly useful when fishing runs where the water flows into shadows, the contrasting colours allow me to easily keep an eye on the fly as it coasts into new light conditions. Keep the wraps of hackle tight along the shank to maximize the floating ability of the fly.
